Our story

Annie Guo, Silkpay founder

The idea of Silkpay came to me while on a holiday in China at my family’s in 2015. When I got off the plane, the taxi driver refused payment in cash. He only accepted Alipay, Alibaba's online payment solution. Used to paying by card or cash as common in Europe, I was surprised at how mobile payment had become the norm in my home country and how confusing it can be to lose your payment habits when travelling abroad! Anxious to offer the best experience to Chinese tourists when they visit Europe, I have the ambition, with Silkpay, to allow them to pay with their e-wallets in France and Europe as they would at their home country.

After graduating from HEC and getting an MBA from the University of North Carolina in the United States, I worked for several years as an investment banker at JP Morgan and HSBC before jumping into the entrepreneurship adventure by creating Silkpay in 2016 with Damiano Rinaldi.

We have won the LVMH Innovation Award and participated in the LVMH stand at Vivatech in 2019. We were also selected as finalists for “Money 2020” best startup and “MPE Berlin” startup awards. We have won the "best fintech" awards from Capgemini and BPCE as well.
